Two PE Rowers compete in World Master’s Regatta in Belgium

Two Port Elizabeth rowers, Benjamin Ekron and Dr Chris Adendorff, on Thursday will be taking part in the World Master Regatta, which will be happening in Belgium.

Out of 2 280 international competitors in the event, South Africa is represented by six rowers.

Ekron, who is the Vice President of RowSA and President of Eastern Cape Rowing said: “We have been training for this event at North End Lake and Redhouse for nine months. We are racing in the Men’s B Division race.”

He will be in the stroke seat and said that they had placed their entry to take part in this prestigious event two months ago.

Dr Chris Adendorff, who will be in the bow seat, is from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s (NMMU) Business School and is a local entrepreneur.

According to Benjamin, they are taking part in the event to promote rowing in the country, the Eastern Cape and the Nelson Mandela Bay area.

“Our goal is to get a medal at the international event,” he said.
