Two Port Alfred men arrested for dealing in drugs

Police in Port Alfred arrested two men, aged between 26 and 30 years-old, in separate unrelated incidents relating to drugs during a crime prevention operation that was carried out on Friday in Port Alfred.

According to the police, whilst conducting a search operation in Joe Slovo Street, Port Alfred, the 26-year-old dropped a bag and started to run upon seeing the police.

“The bag, which contained several bompies of dagga valued at R300, was seized. A case of possession of dagga was opened for investigation,” said police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.

Again on Friday afternoon at about 13:00, police received information of foreign national selling drugs in Nemato, Port Alfred.

According to the police, a 30-year-old Tanzanian man was arrested for dealing in drugs.

“R300 worth of Nyaope as well as R300 in cash was seized. The suspect was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs,” said Captain Govender.

Both suspects appeared in the Port Alfred Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
