MARCH 15, 2016

Steve Vukile Tshwete police officers on Monday night arrested two suspects, aged between 21 and 22 years, from Border Post outside King Williams Town.

According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant Siphokazi Mawisa; "The arrest comes after police followed information received about males involved in an Armed Robbery and Murder that occurred at Ndakana last week.

"Police tracked down these suspects and arrested them while at their homes. While searching, police found with twenty-two bompies of dagga to the street value of R220, some cash and tobacco that was and suspected stolen tobbaco. Police proceeded to another house in the same area, where they recovered a rifle.

"Another suspect was not at home and is still at large."

Thorough investigation led police to positively link the suspects with the case of Business Robbery that occurred last week Wednesday at a shop where an undisclosed amount of cash, airtime and grocery was taken.

"It is alleged that six armed males entered the shop demanding cash from the owner at gunpoint and fled the scene. Police are still continuing with the investigation."

The suspects will appear at Zwelitsha Magistrate Court on Wednesday for Business Robbery, Armed Robbery, Murder and possession of dagga.

The Cluster Commander of King Williams Town, Brigadier Henry Vos thanked the members for following the information, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

This is a major breakthrough as the firearm was used in cases of Robbery and this will solve many cases, he added. He also encouraged the community members to keep on reporting the criminals and/or criminal activities to the police on Crime Stop 08600 10111, Crime Line 32211 or the nearest police station.
