Two Willowvale suspects arrested for illegal firearms and ammunition


Police in Willowvale arrested two suspects over the weekend on charges of the illegal possession of ammunition, and unlicensed firearms.

Speaking in a statement, police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said a 31-year old suspect was taken into custody at Qhakazana Village on Saturday, after being found with an unlicensed revolver and seven rounds of ammunition. He appeared in the town’s Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

On the same day, police also arrested a 17-year old suspect in Mboya Village following the discovery of an unlicensed revolver. The youth also appeared in the Willowvale Magistrates’ Court today.

Manatha said ballistics test would be carried out to determine whether the weapons were used in crimes currently being investigated in the Willowvale area.
