Two young women arrested for masterminding East London robbery

Five suspects, aged between 25 and 39 years, were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday at about 02:00am at Duncan Village, Eastern Cape police said.

The suspects were arrested during an intelligence driven operation by Cambridge SAPS Task Team and Crime Intelligence Gathering Unit following a robbery, which took place at a local shopping centre on the 28th of June.

Two of the suspects (in their late 20’s) are female employees at the shopping centre and are alleged to have orchestrated the robbery. Three men in their 30’s were also arrested and will be charged for armed robbery. 

During the operation, furniture and clothing with an estimated street value of R30 000 that were found in the possession of the suspects was seized.

The suspects will all appear in the East London Magistrates Court soon.  

The Acting Mdantsane Cluster Commander, Brigadier Nomso Siganga, commended the Units and thanked them for their tireless efforts and dedication.
