UFH humiliated against UKZN

University of Fort Hare suffered a humiliating 97-0 loss to University of KwaZulu-Natal at the Rand Stadium, Johannesburg, on Monday night.

The match depicted a mere practise run for the men from KwaZulu-Natal, as they displayed enterprising and clinical displays of interplays between their players all-round. UFH were at the receiving end of a rout, as UKZN dominated in all facets and out-muscled the men from Alice in all set piece contingencies.

UKZN scored 14 tries to UFH’s dismal nil, as they move to the top of the log with a positive point’s difference of 177 and 27 log points over second-placed UWC with 23 log points.

In addition to the loss, UFH suffered a two-point deduction from their overall points tally due to them being sanctioned as fielding an illegible player in their first game against UWC on February 1st. The sanction was followed by an audit from KMPG.

This means that UFH are now placed last on the FNB Varsity Shield log with just three log points, behind TUT merely with a lower points-difference of -205.

UFH will now play FNB Wits in the same venue next week for their following FNB Varsity Shield fixture.
