Uitenhage police appeal for the public's help in tracing rape suspect


The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit in Uitenhage on Monday appealed to local residents to assist them in tracing a man, who police believe can assist in a rape case that occurred in KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage, in September this year.

According to the police, the victim, believed to be in her late 20’s was walking from her home in KwaNobuhle to her workplace in Uitenhage, on the afternoon of the 26th of September, when she was accosted by an unknown male as she passed through the veld near Matanzima Cemetery, in KwaNobuhle.

“The suspect dragged her to the nearby bushes and raped her. He has been identified as labelled in the identikit,” said Captain Swart.

She added that, the suspect is aged between 26 and 30 years old, and he is about 1.60m tall and slender.

Police appeal to the public to come forward if anyone has information regarding the suspect.

“Anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Warrant Officer Aubrey McDonald from the Uitenhage Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit on 041 996 3151 or 072 732 4809,” said Captain Swart.
