Uitenhage police arrest 96 suspects in weekend anti-crime operations

Uitenhage police arrested more than 96 suspects during Crime prevention operations that were conducted over the past weekend from Friday until Monday morning.

Twenty-two traffic fines were also issued during the period. 

"Arrests made varied from house robbery, theft from motor vehicle, shoplifting, illegal possession of drugs, unlawfull possession of firearms and ammunition, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and robbery," Eastern Cape police said

"Police in the Uitenhage Cluster will continue to effectively address crime in their area."  

The South African Police Service also appealed to the community to work with the SAPS in reducing crime by providing valuable information that will lead to the arrest of suspects and the recovery of stolen property.
