Uitenhage police investigating armed robbery

Uitenhage police have launched investigation after two armed men robbed a 19-year-old man, who was delivering liquor in Mabandla Road, KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage, on Tuesday, at about 11:50am.

It is alleged that the two suspects driving a white Mazda Sting allegedly forced the driver of a white Toyota bakkie off the road along the Mabandla Road.

“After the suspects managed to take him out of the road, they searched the bakkie and took a power drill, toolbox, and other electronic equipment and fled,” said police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

She added that, no one was injured during the robbery and a case of armed robbery was opened.

Police have since appealed to local residents, who might have knowledge of the suspects to come forward and assist in their investigation.

“Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects is urged to contact crime stop or the nearest police station,” said Captain Swart.
