Victoria Bay without power after Monday's storm

SEPTEMBER 15, 2015

Update: The electricity supply to Victoria Bay has been restored.

Residents from Victoria Bay, in the Southern Cape, are currently without power after Monday evening's electrical storm.

"Victoria Bay last night suffered damage to electricity cables and an 11KVH transformer that burnt out due to lightening," the George Municipality said in a statement.

"Electro-technical personel were unable to work on the repair as the lightening conditions placed them in serious danger. The teams have gone out this morning.

"The electricity supply to the area will most likely only be restored by this afternoon."
