Volkswagen introduces new Club members

BY CHARL BOSCH - AUGUST 21, 2015

As part a mild revision, Volkswagen has added a special edition Club model to its Beetle and up! ranges with the changes being mostly cosmetic.

Based on the entry level 1.2 TSI Design, the Beetle Club features 17-inch Ravenna alloy wheels, black or red side mirrors, tartan cloth seats, Club badged floor mats, scuff plates, special dashboard colouring and Calypso orange stitching on the steering wheel.

Power remains unchanged at 77 kW and 175 N.m of torque with the only transmission being a six-speed manual. A three year / 100 000 km warranty and five year / 60 000 km service plan is including in the R294 800 asking price.

In comparison, Volkswagen has given the Club treatment to the range topping Move up!, with additions being 15-inch Ravenna alloy wheels, special dashboard colouring, Reflex sliver mirrors, leather covered steering wheel with unique stitching, tartan cloth seats, and special Club branded decals, floor mats, and scuff plates.

Like the Beetle, the Club up! remains unchanged mechanically with power still coming from a 1.0-litre three cylinder engine that produces 50 kW and 93 N.m of torque. A five manual box is the only transmission offered.

A three year / 120 000 km warranty is standard in the R153 200 asking price.
