Volvo XC90 priced


Following the launch of 1927 individually numbered First Edition version of its all new second generation XC90, which sold out in 47 hours at a price of R1 050 000 each during September, Volvo has officially announced pricing and engine details of its new seven-seat luxury SUV set to make its local debut in July 2015.

Making exclusive use of the Swedish automaker’s new 2.0-litre Drive E range of engines, the newcomer will be available with the option of two petrols, two turbodiesels and a petrol hybrid drivetrain, all connected to an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission and with the option of front-or four-wheel drive.

Diesel options consists out of the entry level front-wheel drive only D4, which produces 140 kW and 400 N.m and priced at R792 000, and the twin-turbocharged D5 4WD which comes in at R841 200 and produces 165 kW and 470 N.m.

Coming in at R815 400, the four-wheel drive T5 serves as the entry level petrol XC90 and produces 187 kW and 350 N.m. Sitting at the top of the petrol range, the R855 000 T6 4WD utilises both turbo-and supercharging to produce 236 kW and 400 N.m.

Rounding off the range, the new T8 hybrid combines the same setup as the T6 with a rear-mounted 60 kW lithium-ion battery pack to produce a combined output of 294 kW and a colossal 630 N.m of torque. It will be priced at R993 100.
