WANT TO HARNESS SOLAR ENERGY? Rhino Energy Solutions has all the tools you’ll need

BY TAI CHISHAKWE - SEPTEMBER 10, 2014

Established in 2007, Rhino Energy Solutions has achieved a recognisable national presence through the design, installation and commissioning of both roof-top and ground mounted solar powered solutions.

“We engineer, procure and construct world class solar energy solutions, encompassing the solar energy spectrum from off grid, hybrid to utility scale,” said Andrew Barton at the Rhino Group, adding, “We endeavour to deliver a bankable energy solution that is equipped from leading technology providers thereby assuring our clients a sustainable solar system which supplies carbon free renewable energy effortlessly into the future.”

Rhino Energy has successfully completed many Grid-Tied Solar Photovoltaics (PV) and Hybrid Solar PV installations, countrywide, at industrial, commercial, residential and rural sites.

Barton said that some of Rhino Energy’s milestones include the commissioning of one of the largest roof-top installations yet in South Africa on the 7th floor roof of ABSA’s Head Office in Johannesburg, the successful and ongoing roll-out of installations at motor dealerships across the country as well as the execution of projects within Nelson Mandela Bay, where users are embracing the opportunity of storing power on the Metro’s grid, via a ‘net-metering’ facility implemented by the municipality.

“A solar power solution from Rhino Energy is designed to provide efficient energy generation for many, many years. To achieve this, Rhino only use tier one bankable products in their system solutions which means solar PV systems should be seen as infrastructure, with minimal maintenance requirements and be operational for 25-30+ years,” he described.

“Over a 25+ year lifespan, the quality of panels selected becomes of critical importance as poorer quality options degrade at materially higher annual levels, greatly influencing lifetime benefits, especially financial. Rhino Energy rigorously uses the highest grade components within its’ solutions-centric approach. An investment in solar PV certainly demands such detailed attention.”

With the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) incentives potentially being in place for manufacturers and certain other sectors, Rhino Energy has forged close working relationships with such practitioners.

“Whilst the cost of solar solutions has reduced dramatically over the years, such incentives assist in reducing pay back periods substantially. Tax benefits may also pertain,” Barton said.

He said the current restraints in traditional electricity supply, along with ever increasing Eskom prices, have seen a great increase in enquiries. Rhino Energy products range from basic security of supply UPS solutions to full solar PV design, installation and commissioning – all per the client’s specific needs.

“Rhino Energy is eminently equipped to meet the needs of local industry, commerce and agricultural sectors, as well as homeowners and property developers,” Barton concluded.
