Warriors heed slight advantage over Titans on day one at St. Georges

The Warriors fought back to heed a slight advantage against the Titans on day one in their Sunfoil Series encounter at St. Georges Park, Port Elizabeth, on Tuesday.

Simon Harmer and Basheer Walters each took three wickets apiece, with Harmer taking 3/31 in 22.4 overs – also being the least expensive bowler for the Eastern Cape side with an economy rate of just 1.36. Walters took 3/41 in 17 overs with an economy rate of 2.41.

Other wicket-takers for the Warriors on day one in contribution to getting the Titans all-out for just 227 were: Andrew Birch (1/63), Sisanda Magala (2/57) and Colin Ackermann (1/32).

The highest scorer for the Titans was Heino Kuhn with 52. After taking to the pitch in the middle to bat, the Warriors did not step toward much of a scoring advantage, as Michael Price went out for a 12-ball duck with the Warriors closing on 5-1, still 222 runs behind.

The Warriors, however, are currently on 31-1 on day two with Colin Ackermann and Edward Moore currently taking to the crease. They will look to set a stern platform upon which to build an innings in a very surpassing Titan’s total.
