Watson possibly out for the season

Eastern Province (EP) Kings captain, Luke Watson, is likely to miss the remainder of the Currie Cup season due to a concussion he sustained during a match against the Blue Bulls in August.

Kings medical team has expressed concern over the injury as well as his recovery time.

Watson is due to undergo a MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury; however the chance of him returning to the field this season seems grim.

The Kings have not won a single game in this year’s Currie Cup after six straight losses.

According to the King’s medical team, hooker Edgar Marutlulle, will also be out of the game for two weeks due to a shoulder injury, with David Bullbring out as well, following an ankle injury. Both injuries were sustained whilst playing against the Blue Bulls over the past weekend.

The EP Kings will next face the Free State Cheetahs at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday the 20th of September.
