Weather warning: Conditions to worsen from Friday

APRIL 28, 2016

The South African Weather Service has warned of damaging winds and heavy rain across parts of the Eastern Cape on Thursday.

It states that gale force south westerly winds of 65-70 km/h are expected offshore between Cape St Francis and Port Alfred, with heavy rains likely over the north eastern parts of the province. Localised urban flooding is also expected along the coast between East London and Coffee Bay, later stretching to the adjacent interior between Queenstown and Mthatha.

Expected from Friday, the weather service has issued an advisory for “adverse cyclonic conditions” over a number of areas across the province, with gale force winds, high seas, cooling temperatures and possibility of snow being the biggest factors.
