Western Province could add new players

BY NATALI IVERSON - NOVEMBER 7, 2014

DHL Western Province Stormers coach, Allister Coetzee, has said that there is a possibility of the union signing new players to his squad for the 2015 rugby season.

The Stormers announced recently that they had signed hooker, Bongi Mbonambi from the Steval Pumas as well as props, Vincent Koch and Wilco Louw, both from the Vodacom Blue Bulls.

Western Province takes on English club, Saracens, at Allianz Park in London on Sunday in the Sanlam Private Investments Challenge, where all three new players will be making their debut for the Stormers.

When asked about new signings for next year’s Super Rugby competition, Coetzee said that they (the union) are still looking at certain positions. He added that new additions would be in the front as well as in the backline.

“I’m sure Gert (Smal, WP's Director of Rugby) will have more answers when we come back (from London),” Coetzee said.

Coetzee was looking forward to the match against Saracens, as it would be a great opportunity for Mbonambi, Koch and Louw to bond with the rest of the team.

"It's great to give youngsters an opportunity on tour as well because we will be going on tour in Super Rugby next year, so it will be great to expose players on tour... and also the new recruits."

Coetzee will announce the starting team for Sunday’s match later today.
