Willowvale police appeal for help after elderly man found shot dead

Willowvale police have appealed to the public for leads in their murder investigation after a 64-year-old man was found shot dead in his homestead on Thursday last week, at Bonde Location, Qwaninga Village, Willowvale.

It is alleged that, two men approached the daughter of the deceased and demanded a firearm belonging to her 64 year-old father, but she denied her father having a firearm in his possession.

“The suspects accosted the young lady and robbed her of her cell phone, but she managed to escape and while on the run, she heard some gunshots.

"Later, she went back with the members of the community,” said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

He said that is when they discovered that the 64 year-old man had been shot dead.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the majority of his family are informed.

Police have since appealed to public to assist in the investigation as no one has been arrested yet.

“Anyone who may have information about this cold blooded murder to contact Willowvale police at 047 499 6200 or Crime Stop 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line 32211,”said Captain Manatha.
