Woodridge College Surf-Lifesaver Amica de Jager to represent South Africa at Orange Cup in the Netherlands

Woodridge College and Preparatory School, which is based at Thornhill, halfway between Jeffrey's Bay and Port Elizabeth, on Thursday said that it is delighted that one of its Grade 11 pupils, Amica de Jager, has been selected to represent South Africa at the prestigious Orange Cup in the Netherlands in November this year.

"Amica is also a member of the South African National Junior Lifesaving Team, which departs today for the Netherlands and we wish her every success as she proudly represents South Africa and Woodridge at these two competitive events," said Simon Crane, Headmaster at Woodridge College and Preparatory School.

"Amica is coached by Haydn Holmes at Liquid Lines, Seal Point. Haydn is himself an Old Woodridgean and coincidentally, he too represented South Africa at the World Lifesaving Championships."

Crane said that as part of her commitment to her community and school, Amica regularly staffs the Main Beach at St. Francis Bay as an active member of the Woodridge Surf-Lifesaving Club.

"She is a young lady of many talents and is also the top academic in her Grade 11 year," he described.

"We wish her safe travels and much success in the Netherlands in both September and November of this year."
