OCTOBER 24, 2016

Community Development Services, George Municipality celebrated World Food Day on 17 October 2016. This initiative aims to ensure that more people have access to adequate safe and nutritious food.

Ald Mercia Draghoender, Portfolio Councillor for Community Development and Ald Melvin Naik, Executive Mayor of George donated food  hampers to to the George Night shelter, Phambili Refuge for Battered Women as well as to previously homeless people.

Maintaining food sustainability has become a luxury that not everyone can afford. Through this initiative we aim to provide a nutritious meal to marginalised members of the community, Draghoender said.
