World Population Day

JULY 11, 2016

World Population Day takes place on the 11th of July every year, and was created to raise awareness towards global population issues.

This day was created on 11th of July 1989, the day that the world population reached five billion people.

The usual themes of this day include hunger, disease, warfare, welfare and human rights within the world, with this year’s theme being “Investing in teenage girls.”

This is due to the fact that teenage girls around the world face many challenges, such as being forced into marriage and/or being removed from school at an early age.
