Your chance to influence the Metro's development planning and budget

SEPTEMBER 30, 2015

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will, between 5 and 30 October, conduct a series of public meetings on its 2015/16 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget.

"All residents of Nelson Mandela Bay, including stakeholders, civil society, government departments and parastatals, are encouraged to participate in these sessions and make meaningful contributions in order to improve development and service delivery in the Metro," the municipality urged.

"These consultations will be led by the Executive Mayor and the Mayoral Committee."

The IDP process is guided by Chapter 4 of the Municipal Systems Act of 2000, which states that a municipality must develop a culture of municipal governance that complements formal representative governance with a system of participatory governance, and must for this purpose encourage and create conditions for the local community to participate in the affairs of the Municipality, including in the preparation, implementation and review of its integrated development plan in terms of Chapter 5.

Note that the six meetings on 5 October 2015 below are intended for Ward Committee members.
