JANUARY 21, 2015

Non-profit organisation, Business Against Crime (Eastern Cape) will be holding a Business Breakfast on 12th February at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth under the theme; ‘Implications of the 2014 crime Statistics for the Nelson Mandela bay Metro & the Eastern Cape'.

“The latest South African Police Service crime statistics released for the 2013/14 financial year reveal a number of worrying signs. The violent crime categories that the public fears most have all increased significantly.

“Most notably, for the first time in twenty years the murder rate has increased for two consecutive years in a row,” says Bryan Howard, Managing Director at Business Against Crime (Eastern Cape).

The keynote speaker at the event is Gareth Newham, Head of the Governance, Crime and Justice Division at the Institute for Security Studies.

“In his presentation, he will provide insights into the most important crime trends to emerge out of the recent crime statistics. He will pay particular attention to what the statistics say about crime trends in the Eastern Cape,” says Howard.
