Zuma to face no confidence motion next month

BY CHARL BOSCH - JANUARY 29, 2015

A motion of confidence brought against President Jacob Zuma by Agang SA, is expected to be tabled in the National Assembly on February 24th.

The party officially presented the motion on November 4th before approaching the Constitutional Court to have the matter voted in by secret ballot. National Assembly programme whip, Fezile Bhengu, has confirmed that the debate will take place a mere 12 days after Zuma’s State of the Nation Address.

“When I tabled the motion of no confidence I asked the Speaker that she not preside over the motion of no confidence and that she ensure the voting on the motion be done by way of secret ballot. She refused, confirming that she is not impartial when she acts in her capacity as Speaker," Agang acting president, Andries Tlouamma said, after the party had also tried to install a similar motion against National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete. The matter is still pending.
