All women over 18 now welcome at Miss. Universe

The miss Universe organization has announced that from 2024 all women over 18 can participate in this prestigious beauty contest.

R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss. Universe 2022, announced the news during designer Tanner Fletcher’s show at New York Fashion Week.

RNews reported earlier this week that the South African beauty Bryoni Govender will represent the country in November this year.

Govender is only the second South African of Indian origin to represent the country in this competition.

The rule change that allows all women over the age of 18 to take part in the competition will take effect from 2024.

“Every adult woman in the world will be eligible to participate in the Miss. Universe competition,” Gabriel wrote on Instagram after the fashion show.

The 29-year-old American is the oldest woman who has been Miss. Universe is designated. She was also the first Filipino-American woman to win the Miss. won USA title and also the first Miss. USA representative in a decade that as Miss. Universe is crowned.

According to People Gabriel said age is just a number. “A woman’s ability to meet Ms. Participating in the universe should not be determined by her age.”

Gabriel started in January People said she wants to be a “voice” for change in the fashion and beauty pageant industry.

“Especially now that I have such a big platform as Miss. Universe has, that is one of my main goals.”

The latest change comes after the 2022 competition also changed the rules to allow mothers and married women to take part.
