Argentinians too fast for Blitzbokke

Henry

It is difficult to stop the flying Argentinians on the rugby sevens field. The South Americans beat the Blitzboks 19 – 5 this morning in the two teams’ last group game in Perth.

Despite a Blitzbok try (thanks, Quewin Nortjé) and German Schulz’s yellow card, Argentina still enjoyed a half-time lead of 14 – 5.

In the second half, they simply kept the Blitzboks away from their goal line, while Marcos Moneta’s try was the final nail in the South Africans’ coffin.

However, the Blitzbokke did enough in their previous games against Canada and Spain to qualify for the cup quarter-finals.

They play Fiji at 1pm.

Today’s results:

Spain 33 – 12 Canada

Argentina 19 – 5 South Africa

France 19 – 14 Samoa

USA 17 – 10 Great Britain

Ireland 19 – 10 Australia

Quarter Final Fixtures:

12:10: Ireland v France

12:35: Argentina v Spain

13:00: South Africa v Fiji

1:25 p.m.: USA v Australia.
