Dutywa woman accused of stabbing man to death again expected in court

A 31-year-old woman, who stands accused of stabbing a 40-year-old man to death over the weekend at Doti Location, in Mangati Village, Dutywa, will again appear in the Dutywa Magistrate's Court on Friday.

"Nozibele Mtana appeared before the Dutywa Magistrate Court on Monday. She was not asked to plead," described police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"The case was remanded to Friday, 11 August 2017, for further investigation.

"She remained in custody."

He said that the deceased was identified as Xolani Bhaliwe.

It is alleged that Mtana had a misunderstanding with Bhaliwe's wife after going to the couple's homestead to resolve an ongoing dispute.

"The deceased tried to negotiate the misunderstanding between his wife and the suspect," said Captain Manatha.

"The suspect, who was armed with a knife, is alleged to have stabbed the 40-year-old man in front of his wife."

He said Bhaliwe died almost immediately.

The misunderstanding between the two women, which led to the fatal stabbing of the deceased is not yet clear at this point in time.

Dutywa Police were informed of the murder and acted swiftly by rushing to the scene of crime. The suspect was traced and arrested.
