Port Elizabeth policeman found murdered in his Wells Estate home

An investigation is underway after the body of a Port Elizabeth policeman, 43-year-old Sergeant Linda Mzuko, was found on Friday night at 18:30 at his home in Wells Estate, Port Elizabeth.

"He was found with several bullet wounds to his neck and body, when his estranged wife, Mrs Neliswa Mzuko, 37 years (working as a Command Centre Operator at the 10111 Centre) visited him," described police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge.

"She found his house front door open, and on entering made the gruesome find."

Captain Beetge said that police are suspecting that he was killed on Thursday night.

"Sergeant Mzuko's official state firearm was missing from his home, and is suspected to be stolen by his murderer/s," he added.

"He was stationed at Bethelsdorp Police Station."

On Friday night, both Cluster Commanders of Motherwell and Mount Road, Major General Dawie Rabie and Major General Funeka Siganga expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased member and added that the killing of police members will face the full brunt of the law.

"Any person with any information that could assist the police in this investigation, are requested to contact the Swartkops Detectives at 041 408 8303 or 8318 or 8341," Captain Beetge appealed.
