Duo busted en-route to East London with stolen TVs worth R55 000

Two men are expected in court on Monday after they were busted by Butterworth police for house robbery on Friday afternoon.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, the two suspects, aged 35 and 45 years old, were arrested along the N2 Highway between Butterworth and Kei Bridge.

"Both suspects were found with five plasma television sets worth R55.000," he said.

"The suspects are alleged to have robbed an elderly woman at Ext 6, Butterworth on Friday.

"It is believed that they committed house breaking and theft as they were also found with tools of house breaking."

Captain Manatha said that the suspects were arrested on their way to East London.

"They will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Monday," he said.

"The car they were driving was also confiscated and we are investigating if they are lawful owners of the car."
