Chippa sink AmaZulu FC in poor conditions at NMB Stadium

Following their 1-0 slump to the Orlando Pirates in their first 2017/18 ABSA Premiership encounter last week, Chippa United have soulfully bounced back with a convincing 2-0 win over ‘new kids on the block’ AmaZulu FC at the NMB Stadium on Tuesday night.

In atrocious conditions in the Bay on Tuesday night, there saw the NMB Stadium merely peppered with nominal support, but nonetheless, the Chilli Boys managed to bag maximum points in their first home encounter through goals from Moeketsi Sekola and Abel Mabaso.

Chippa scored their first goal on the 38th minute through Sekola, when the player netted the ball in from close-range.

Throughout, Usuthu failed to execute golden opportunities, beginning in the opening 10 minutes, when Michel Morton failed to accurately header a pin-point cross-kick into the goals, and as the second half unfolded, were dominating possession, but were unable to materialise their chances.

Tiring AmaZulu out as the match grew to a close, with sweating possession at their stakes throughout, the visitors were then poor in their retreat, as Chippa took possession to their feet, and nailed in the coffin with Kurt Lentjies providing a fine assist for Mabaso to score the consolation goal on the 84th minute.

Lentjies was awarded man-of-the-match.
