The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) would like to notify motorists that the scheduled road closure for the National Route R75 between Despatch and Uitenhage is taking place on Thursday and Friday, 22 September, from 9am until 5pm on both days.

On Thursday, 21 September 2017, from 9am until 5pm, the Uitenhage Road southbound on-ramp to Swartkops Road (R367/M19), will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Swartkops (R367/M19) northbound off-ramp via Uitenhage Rd southbound, to R75 northbound, to Botha Interchange, to R75 southbound, to continue on to Swartkops (R367/M19) southbound. The estimated additional travel time and distance is about 10 minutes and 15km.

Friday, 22 September 2017, from 9am until 5pm, the Swartkops (R367) northbound off ramp to Uitenhage, will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Botha Interchange via Swartkops Rd (R367/M19) and R75 northbound, to R75 southbound, to either R75 off-ramp to Desptach via Uitenhage Rd or R75 southbound towards Port Elizabeth. The estimated additional travel time and distance is about 10minutes and 15km.

"The road closures are necessary due to the constricted construction area that requires resurfacing. The area that requires resurfacing cannot accommodate both the construction plant and the travelling public safely and therefore requires road closures," said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region Manager.

Appropriate traffic accommodation and temporary road signage will be in place.
