Woodridge Preparatory School raises funds to care for World Rhino Day

In aid of World Rhino Day, Woodridge Preparatory School today handed over a cheque of just over R9000 to Wayne Bolton, founder of the One Land Love It (OLLI) Foundation.

The funds will specifically be used to care for an orphaned baby rhino called Wyntir, currently in the care of the Care For Wild Rhino Sanctuary.

A current Grade 7 pupil of Woodridge Preparatory School, Brandon Booth, single-handedly raised R5160 of the amount donated today. He raised the money by joining Bolton on the first leg (approximately 110 km) of a marathon cycling journey of 2000km over four weeks, through 20 different SANPark reserves, to raise awareness about the challenges faced by our remaining rhino populations.

Head of the Woodridge Preparatory School, Trevor von Berg, said today, “We believe that education and collaboration are the only ways to make a meaningful difference in the fight against poaching and it is up to all of us to take action to protect our amazing natural heritage.”
