Two men are expected in court soon after they were busted by members of the Aliwal North K9 unit for dealing in dagga.

According to police spokesperson, Capt Ursula Roelofse, the K9 unit members were conducting crime prevention patrols in Malakaleng Village when they followed up on information about the men.

"A 30-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of two parcels of dagga and in a second arrest an 18-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of 59 parcels of dagga in a bucket and 61 parcels of dagga in a white plastic bag," she described.

The Cluster Commander Brig Xakavu commended the members for clamping down on drugs.

"We will keep the drugs of our streets and out of our rural villages," he said and encouraged members to continue doing their work to make communities safer.
