A 17-year-old Port Elizabeth boy affiliated with the Spotbouers gang was on Wednesday found guilty by the Port Elizabeth Regional court on charges of murder, robbery, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

"It is alleged that on Monday, 12 June 2017 at about 15:30, the victim Ralph Vorster (35) and his taxi conductor were driving a taxi and stopped in Barberry Drive in Bethelsdorp where they picked up two passengers," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"While still driving in the same street, the accused pulled out a firearm and ordered the conductor to get out and run.

"Vorster was shot several times and was later found lying outside his taxi by the conductor."

Teen arrested two months later for fatal shooting and robbery

Col Naidu said that two months later, the teenager was arrested by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit (Gang Investigations).

"He remains in custody until his sentencing which is on 29 March 2019."
