Damaging winds, snowfalls, cyclonic and veld fire conditions expected

The South African Weather Service on Tuesday morning said that damaging winds, disruptive snowfalls, adverse cyclonic and veld fire conditions are to be expected over parts of the Eastern and Southern Cape as the day progresses. 

"Damaging Winds - SW'ly winds of 65 km/h is expected north of Coffee Bay," the weather office said.

"An intense cut-off low pressure system expected to affect the Eastern Cape from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday.

"The public and small stock farmers are advised that very cold conditions, snow and heavy rainfall leading to flooding can be expected, as well as strong winds over the northern interior and along the Wild Coast."

It said that disruptive snowfalls are expected over the Sneeuberg and Winterberg mountains, spreading toward the southern Drakensberg. 

Meanwhile, veld fire conditions are expected in Dr Beyers Naude, Blue Crane Route, Inxuba YeThemba, Enoch Mgijima and Walter Sisulu local municipalities.
