19-year-old Uitenhage man jailed for raping 21-year-old woman

The Uitenhage Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), this week secured another lengthy sentence for a convicted rapist.

"Nxati Fete, 19-years-old was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment by the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court on Monday, for the rape of a 21-year-old victim," said police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

"According to testimony, the 21-year-old victim was raped at a residence, at 11:00, on 3 January 2018, in Faku Street, Kwanobuhle.

"Fete was arrested by detectives on 10 January 2018, brought before court and effectively sentenced on 7 May 2018."

Acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Laurence Soekoe, welcomed the sentencing and commended the team for their comprehensive work which led to the conviction and sentencing by the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court.
