Operation Coastal Storm yielded good results when two suspects, aged 26 and 43 years old, were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition at Buhlungwana locality early on Tuesday morning, at about 03h00.

"Tina Falls Vispol and Detectives were on operation and followed a positive information when they found a 26-year-old suspect with a 9mm Norinco pistol, an empty magazine and two empty cartridges," described police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena.

"They proceeded to another homestead and found a 43-year-old suspect with two rounds of a 9mm pistol."

She said that both suspects are due to appear before Libode Magistrate Court on Wednesday and the firearm will be sent for ballistic testing.

"These are the fruits of having good relations with the communities we serve.

"It is of utmost importance that each and every member should have an informer that will assist us in bringing to book the perpetrators of crime," said the Acting Cluster Commander, Brigadier Nomawethu Makonza.
