2014/15 ABSA PSL trophy handover and 2015 Nedbank Final coming to Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium

The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, one of the stadia built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, continues to be the best-utilised stadium in the country with international and national rugby, football and concerts being held at this world-class facility.

Situated in the heart of the picturesque Nelson Mandela Bay, overlooking a lake, the NMB Stadium has become something of an icon for residents and visitors alike, and is one of the proud legacy projects for South Africa.

Coupled with that, the city has always proven to be great hosts in ensuring that safety, security, logistical support, traffic control, crowd control, and the like are always properly provided to the participants, event organisers and fans.

In addition, the entertainment and hospitality industry, plus the tourist attractions are major drawcards to the Bay.

"And, as has been proven a number of times, there are no better, more passionate fans than Nelson Mandela Bay's fans, who sing, cheer, dance and liven up any football, cricket or rugby match that the Bay is fortunate enough to host.

"It is little wonder then that the Premier Soccer League announced that the Nedbank Cup Final on 16 May 2015 between Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town will be played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium," says Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Communications Director, Roland Williams.

"We realise that neither of the clubs are resident in the Eastern Cape, but we are sending out a very strong message to all football- and sports-loving people of the Eastern Cape to fill the stadium to the rafters, so that we again prove to be worthy hosts, and so that we provide resounding encouragement to the PSL and other national sporting codes to include Nelson Mandela Bay as a regular host of top-class sporting action."

The kick-off is at 15h00 (3pm) and fans must arrive as early as possible. The best way in which we can thank the PSL for deciding on Nelson Mandela Bay as the host city, is to ensure that the stadium is filled to capacity.

The Nedbank Cup Final will be preceded by the Chippa United vs Bloem Celtic match on Wednesday, 29 April 2015, at 19h00 (7pm), and of course the Chippa United vs Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, 9 May 2015 at 15h00 (3pm), where Kaizer Chiefs will be handed the PSL Trophy!
