ECDOE in drive to fill vacancies at schools ahead of Matric exams
About 600 non-teaching staff vacancies have been advertised by the Eastern Cape Department of Education to be filled by end of July 2018.
The massive recruitment drive is part of ensuring more efficient service delivery for the people of this province and to propel responsiveness of the system.
According to the department's Head, Themba Kojana, all these are funded posts.
"Our aim is to ensure that we move the from bottom of the ladder in terms of school performance to a better and reasonable position. We intend to recruit suitably qualified individuals with professionalism. For security posts, each school conducted a risk assessment which will help them place the indivual on shift basis as per the risk assessment results," said Kojana.
Kojana emphasised that, no school will be alienated during the process as long as such a school has submitted its requests. "The posts we have advertised include more than 600 for non-teaching staff which will lead to some schools having security guards for the first time. Additionally, there are more than 30 directors and assistant directors posts advertised, 14 schools will have guards for the first time while 17 other school will receive caretakers, others include 46 school cleaners and 500 interns", said Kojana.
The HoD also invited new graduates to grab the opportunity and apply as there are 500 internships available to be filled. This he believes will ensure that they can receive on the job training experience.
