Man and woman arrested just after robbing Kabega Park home

After receiving information of a house robbery in Kabega Park, Port Elizabeth, the PE K9 unit immediately scouted the area for the vehicle taken in the robbery as well as three suspects.

"It is alleged that on Wednesday, at about 02:50, a 27-year-old man heard a noise outside his front door in Masson Street, in Francis Evert Park, in Kabega Park," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"When he opened the door, a 22-year-old female known to him was at the door.

"As he opened the security gate, two other males entered the house."

Col Naidu said that one male produced a firearm and the complainant was tied up with electrical cords.

"His cell phone, a 32inch TV and his gold coloured Opel Corsa Lite vehicle was taken. He later managed to free himself and alert police."

About twenty minutes later, the PE K9 Unit spotted the vehicle at the Caltex garage in Cape Road.

"Two suspects, the female and a 38-year-old male was arrested. A .22 pistol was found in the woman’s possession and the stolen cell phone on the male suspect. The TV was found in the car. The third suspect is yet to be arrested," said Col Naidu.

"The female will be detained on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and house robbery and the male suspect will be detained on a charge of house robbery."

The suspects will appear in court on Friday.

The case is being investigated by the Mount Road Cluster Detective Trio Task Team.
