21-year-old Butterworth man in court for killing his 60-year-old father

A 21-year-old man is on Wednesday expected to appear in court after he was arrested last week for allegedly killing his 60-year-old father.

"Kei Bridge police, near Butterworth,arrested a 21-year-old man for alleged murder of his father, aged 60," described police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"It is alleged that the suspect stabbed his father on upper body on Friday, at about 21:30, at their home which is at Maqwathini Location, Manqulo near Kei Bridge, Butterworth."

He said that the motive behind the murder is still not clear at this point in time.

"The deceased died instantly. Kei Bridge Police acted swiftly and arrested the suspect," added Captain Manatha.

"The suspect will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate Court on Wednesday on a murder charge.

"The identity of the deceased will be revealed once all his relatives are officially informed of his death."
