Two arrested after another gang shooting at Shauderville
The swift collaboration between the various units deployed in the hotspot areas of Gelvandale, Port Elizabeth, resulted in the arrest of two suspected gang affiliates in Shauderville on Thursday afternoon.
"It is alleged that on Thursday, the victim (23) and a friend were walking in Jameson Road, Schauderville, Port Elizabeth, when a grey LDV drove up to them," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.
"The driver of the vehicle stopped and went inside a house while the other two occupants approached the victim.
"One of the suspect’s took out a firearm and fired at the two wounding one of them in the hand.
"The suspects ran off on foot."
She said that PE K9 unit members were immediately on the scene and the two suspects were arrested at a house in Highfield Street.
The suspects are affiliated with the Fat Cats gang.
Col Naidu said that the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit is investigating a case of attempted murder.
"The suspects, aged 16 and 17 years may appear in court on Tuesday."
The arreste follows another gang shooting in whicha three-year-old boy was hit by a stray bullet while two victims were wounded.
