Aliwal North police seize drugs and arrest suspect in intelligence operation
A successful combined intelligence operation by Aliwal North police resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old man for drug dealing on Thursday.
"Members of CI, OCC and K9 followed up positive information at 12:30 at the Springs area," said police spokesperson, Capt Ursula Roelofse.
"A search was conducted inside the identified flat and CAT (cocain) was discovered concealed inside the mattress base."
She said that the 34 year old suspects was arrested for possession of drugs and the drugs confiscated.
"Some of the drugs was still in a solid form and some were already in package form to be sold," Capt Roelofse described.
"The drugs have a estimated street value of R 4100-00."
Burglar also arrested in Burgersdorp
Also during the same morning, at Burgersdorp, at about 11:45, police also followed up positive information and arrested a 18-year-old farm worker for burglary.
"A flat screen TV was recovered on a neighbouring farm where he sold it."
The Cluster Commander, Brig Trevor Mey, commended the members on the arrests hard drugs will not be tolerated and wrongdoers must know that action will be taken against them.
He also encouraged and thanked the community that reject and report stolen goods and stand up against drugs.
"You strengthen the hands and eyes of the SAPS. Thank you!"
