4-5mm of rain measured in Port Elizabeth and catchment areas

Four to five millimeters of rain was measured overnight in Port Elizabeth and its catchment areas, said the Port Elizabeth office of the South African Weather Service.

"Nice follow up rains for the dams but more especially good for farmers for grass and grazing," described Garth Sampson, the SA Weather Service's Client Liaison Officer for the Eastern Cape.

He said that the Port Elizabeth Airport area received up to 4mm of rain while the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's catchment received rain as follows:         

  • Patensie              4 mm,
  • Kareedouw        5 mm,
  • Joubertina          4 mm, and
  • Uitenhage           4 mm.
