Thirty members of the Aliwal North K9 Unit on Sunday followed up information and a raided a suspected drug den during an intelligence-driven operation at Hilton in Aliwal North.

"The identified house was searched at Schalk Street and seven sachets of 'tik' Crystal meth and one batch of tik were found sealed in a cookie box," described police spokesperson, Capt Ursula Roelofse.

She said that the suspects had tried to hide the drugs in a pool table, but were no match for the K9 unit's four-legged friends.

"Two suspects, a male (45 years old) and his 43-year-old wife, were arrested for the possession of drugs," said Capt Roelofse.

"The drugs as well as cash to the value of R9 506 were confiscated."

Aliwal North SAPS Cluster Commander, Brig Trevor Mey, commended the members on their continued endeavors to rid our streets of drugs.

"One arrest at a time already makes a big difference," he said.
