SAPS Festive Season operations yield results in Humansdorp Cluster

SAPS Festive Season operations yielded positive results after two shebeens were closed and liquor seized in the Humansdorp SAPS Cluster.

"Police also netted five people for possession of illicit drugs and with three motorists nabbed for drunk driving during operations on Saturday night," said police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli.

He said that police closed two shebeens in Jeffreys Bay and the owners were fined R2 500 each for operating unlicensed liquor outlets.

"Police also seized 208 litres of liquor valued R3 500. During the operation, four suspects were arrested for possession of illicit drugs," Sgt Nkohli.

"Suspects, aged between 20 and 25 years old, are due to appear at the Humansdorp Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges ranging from possession of mandrax to tik."

SAPS Festive Season operations recored successes in Joubertina too

He said that a similar police operation in Joubertina yielded positive results after three motorists were nabbed for drunk driving and four other motorists fined for traffic offences ranging from driving without driving licence to driving unroadworthy vehicles.

SAPS Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok, assured residents and tourists of a safer Festive Season.

"Residents must expect high police visibility in shopping malls, and on strategic routes. Police horses from Mounted Unit are going to be a force multiplier in beaches and around busy shopping malls."
