Eskom says no load shedding on Monday, but risk remains high

After more than a week of continuous load shedding, Eskom on Monday said that that it will not be load shedding.

"However the system remains tight and the risk of load shedding remains high should power station units fail to return to service as planned," the Eskom said.

"Eskom will keep you informed should there be any change."

On Sunday, Eskom announced that there will be no load shedding as "we have recovered sufficient pumped storage levels and some of our generating units have returned to service".

Use power sparignly to avoid load shedding

"The power system remains in a state of ALERT and should the situation deteriorate significantly, rotational load shedding cannot be ruled out," the uitility said.

"We continue to appeal to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period. Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand."
