Port Elizabeth’s Irish dancers celebrate in style

Ending their year on a high note, the Irish dancers from McWilliams Academy of Dance (MAD) hosted their final fundraiser for the year on the 8th of December, in the form of a High Tea at the Kiplings Brasserie Restaurant at The Boardwalk Hotel.

McWilliams Academy of Dance celebrates a long list of achievements

The MAD High Tea was a celebration of their hard work and many accomplishments throughout the year. From taking part in the Irish Dancing Cape Town Championships in May, their participation in the “Dans in jou Taal” televised dancing competition, to their successful Irish Dance Show at the Savoy Theatre, they have achieved a lot this year.

Their most notable achievement was when their dancers attended the SA Championships, in which ten of their dancers qualified to represent South Africa at the World Championships, three went on to become SA Champions and eight became pre-championship winners.

The classy venue at Kipling’s was the perfect backdrop to the sublime talents of Niqui Cloete-Barrass and Annaline Stiglingh who were fantastic entertainment for the guests!

“On behalf of everyone at MAD, I would like to thank our generous sponsors and the public for their amazing support, not only at our High Tea, but throughout the year! We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year,” said MAD teacher and owner, Jenny McWilliams.

MAD is sure to achieve even more great things in the years to come, so be sure to keep an eye one them.
