Sheep worth R58 000 recovered in Dutywa just as owner reports to police

Speedy action taken by Dutywa police after receiving a tip-off led to the recovery of 39 suspected sheep, just as the owner discovered them missing.

"On Friday, members received information that there were sheep in the forest at Old Idutywa Village, Dutywa," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"It did appear that they were hidden and possibly ready to be transported when the members got to them before the suspects."

He said that the owner was at the community service centre reporting the theft when he was informed that all his sheep, which were taken from his kraal, had just been recovered.

"The ecstatic complainant thanked the SAPS profusely for bringing him good tidings," Capt Manatha.

"He was extremely grateful that all his stock was recovered and declined to have it investigated further."
