Diversion of traffic on the N2 Section 11 between Port Elizabeth and Humansdorp

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) would like to notify road users of traffic diversion on the N2 Section 11 carriageways to the newly constructed interchange ramps, before Bay West in Port Elizabeth.

The diversion will channel the traffic past the new bridge construction.  The N2 Section 11 westbound carriageway will be diverted to the interchange ramps from Monday 18 February 2019.

Similarly, the N2 Section 11 eastbound carriageway will be diverted to the interchange ramps from Wednesday, 27 February 2019.

“The traffic is being diverted because of the construction of a new bridge and a highway rest and service facility, which is a project of private developers.

“Motorists are requested to adhere to the temporary road signs and instructions of the flagmen and to use caution when making use of the road,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region Manager.

  • The traffic on the N2 Section 11 eastbound carriageway to Port Elizabeth will be slowed to 60km/h speed starting 1.8km from the bridge overpass.  The fast lane will be closed 0.8km from the new bridge overpass and the traffic diverted to the slow lane.  Approaching the bridge, the traffic will be diverted to the exit ramp of the interchange and past the bridge to the entrance ramp of the interchange and back onto the N2 Section 11.
